3 of the most popular Netflix movies everyone is streaming right now

Reviews and audience scores on sites like IMDb and rotten tomatoes are certainly an imperfect way to gauge the performance of streaming content like Netflix movies, for a multitude of reasons. While box office performance is based on the dollars spent by each viewer who attended a screening, for example, the critic ratings associated with Netflix films – and those of other streamers – are based on the comments of viewers who , well, bother to leave these comments. at all.

Yet these scores are at least one little informative and offers insight into a stock’s performance data. With that in mind, we want to take a closer look below at what the latest Rotten Tomatoes scores reveal about some of the biggest Netflix movies right now. Based on that, the three films below are some of the most popular on the streamer right now – which is not, it must be added, the same as calling them critics or audience favorites.

End of the road

Let’s start with the biggest Netflix movie released right now. For the 7-day period ending September 11, Queen Latifah’s new thriller End of the road totally dominated the last Ranking of the top 10 of Netflix movies. The film – also starring Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Beau Bridges, Mychala Faith Lee, Shaun Dixon and Frances Lee McCain – garnered 30.2 million viewing hours in its first week on Netflix.

“In this high-octane action-thriller,” the streamer explains, “a cross-country road trip becomes a highway to hell for Brenda (Queen Latifah), her two children and her brother Reggie (Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges) After witnessing a brutal murder, the family finds themselves in the crosshairs of a mysterious killer.

“Now alone in the New Mexico desert and cut off from all help, Brenda is embroiled in a deadly fight to keep her family alive.”

For an additional measure of diffusion End of the road has been so far? It quickly landed on Netflix’s top 10 movies list in 80 countries around the world. However, don’t confuse all that viewing time with generally positive reception – critics and viewers alike slammed the film, with some pretty dire results. 32% and 15% scores on Rotten Tomatoes (from critics and viewers, respectively).

I came

Let’s carry on, the Netflix thriller I came — in addition to garnering enough viewers to reach No. 3 in the Global Top 10 Most Recent Netflix Movies — has garnered praise from big-name fans, including author Stephen King.

“The film follows Toby, a world-weary graffiti artist who vandalizes the homes of London’s elite”, Netflix explains. “One night, he targets the stately home of a retired London judge and uncovers a dark secret that puts him and those close to him in danger.”

Regarding his current scores for Rotten Tomatoes, I came (with Hugh Bonneville, Kelly Macdonald and George MacKay) collected 69% and 46% marks at the time of this writing (from critics and audiences, in that order). Not great, but not the worst I’ve seen.

The gray man: One of the greatest Netflix movies of all time

Finally, let’s talk about the Russo Brothers star-studded and very expensive spy thriller for Netflix, The gray man.

Adapted from the Gray Man spy novel series written by author Mark Greaney, the film unquestionably garnered a huge response after its debut on Netflix in July. In fact, current Netflix Top 10 Movies data shows that, globally, The gray man is one of Netflix’s greatest movies all time. It’s No. 4 on this all-time biggest ranking, having racked up 253.8 million watch hours in its first 28 days on Netflix.

As I wrote a few days after seeing the film, it was hard not to assume that this one had all the makings of a hit. At least he did it on paper. It had a telegenic cast, a ridiculously huge budget, gorgeous European locations, big-name directors, nonstop gunfights, and intense fight scenes.

Even so, critics haaaaaated it.

The current Rotten Tomatoes review score for The gray man? A very mediocre 46%. For me, Ana de Armas’ character, Dani “Get out of my personal space” Miranda was worth the price of admission alone. That is to say, I am one of the large number of viewers who considered the film to be very entertaining. The current audience score for The gray man on Rotten Tomatoes? A strong 90%.

As a result, a sequel film is already in the works at Netflix. A spin-off movie, with a kept-secret logline, is also forthcoming.
