UPDATED: June 24, 2022

Watch: Spiderhead

Release year: 2022

Directed by: Joseph Kosinski

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett, Angie Millikan, Mark Paguio, Tess Haubrich

The most recent movie on this list is spider head, a sci-fi thriller that debuted on Netflix on June 17, 2022. For many, the draw of this film is that Thor star Chris Hemsworth plays the title character, but it’s much more just a simple action movie. The Netflix Original is based on the short story “Escape from Spiderhead” by George Saunders.

In this gripping drama, two prisoners at a penitentiary agree to become test subjects in exchange for a shorter sentence. Their experiments include taking a variety of different drugs for scientist Steve Abnesti (Hemsworth) to study their behavior. The story is pretty crazy and the ending will leave you speechless! In addition, Hemsworth gives a very good performance.

Director Joseph Kosinski is having a pretty successful year after also helming Tom Cruise’s new sequel, Top Gun: Maverick.

spider head won’t change your life and probably won’t become your new favorite movie, but it’s certainly entertaining enough to give it a watch.

Verdict: WATCH
