5 great Netflix movies to watch on New Years weekend 2021/2022

We say goodbye to another year and welcome a new one. Here are five great Netflix movies to watch over the New Years weekend.

There are some great movies coming to Netflix over the weekend. Some of these don’t come until early January, but you might want to watch Netflix movies on New Year’s Eve. After all, the year-end won’t be so positive if the we consider the second pandemic year that we have known!

You will also want to watch something with the whole family. The good news is that there is a great mix of genres. We’ll put this list in order of release dates to mark movies that don’t arrive until Saturday, January 1, so you can schedule your viewing throughout the weekend.

5 Must-See Netflix Movies This Weekend

Dead until 2021

We start with a special comedy that we count as a movie. It is a follow-up of Death to 2020, who tried to find humor in the dark of the year. This is certainly the case here when it comes to the second pandemic year.

We look at online dating, isolation and more. If you’re not ready to laugh at the year we’ve had, there are still some other great options to check out.

The lost girl

Olivia Colman is an exceptional actress, and you certainly won’t want to miss any of her latest films. The lost girl is a Netflix original film that sees her play as a character who goes on vacation to get away from everything in her life.

Of course, life has a way of catching up with us. This is something Colman’s character realizes as she comes to terms with her troubling past.

happy feet

Now is the time to watch the Netflix movies with the kids on New Years Day (or the next day!). These three films all arrive on Saturday January 1st and we start with happy feet. The animated musical film features excellent music from all your favorite bands. And we can’t overlook the energy that Robin Williams brings to the film.

The first film follows a penguin who doesn’t have the ability to sing like others. He can dance, however, and he has to show that just because he’s different doesn’t mean he needs to be ostracized. The second film is also available to watch.

Want a great movie from the past? Gremlins is a must-see, and it’s available to stream on January 1. Yes, it does happen on Christmas, but there’s no reason you can’t watch it on New Years Day.

The film follows a young man who has a strange creature as a pet. He only has to follow three rules, but of course, it’s impossible to follow. Soon New York City is invaded by dangerous creatures who want to wreak havoc and destruction.

The never-ending story

There are some great, fantastic movies out there on Netflix, but there is one you must watch every time it hits the streaming platform. The never-ending story is back, and it’s a must see for all family members.

Bastian finds himself drawn into the land of Fantasia through a book. He must save the earth from the Nothing that threatens to destroy everything it touches. Can he bring hope to the earth?
