Rhianna’s private chef cooked her meals
Even though the contestants didn’t find love on the island, they definitely “found love” when it comes to their meals. The food was prepared by none other than Rhianna’s private chef, according to Toronto contestant Obi Nnadi.
“Believe it or not, we had Rihanna’s private chef cooking for us on the island,” he explains. “She’s the person who literally cooks food for Rihanna on a regular basis. […] and he knew what he was doing because he cooks for about 15 of us.”
“The food was absolutely amazing there. Honestly every day we ate great breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, desserts, etc.”
“That’s why I had to make sure I trained every day because you don’t eat so well and you don’t look good on camera,” he laughs.
They only had 30 minutes to prepare each day
While the stars certainly looked ready for the camera, they actually didn’t have much time to get all dolled up at all.
“We had 30 minutes to get ready and we all had to share a shower,” said Canadian contestant Holly Scarfone. “We had to wait until people were done showering, so I really had 10 minutes to get ready every day. […] A lot of times it was more natural, and other times when I wanted to wear makeup I just had to put it on, so it was a bit of a challenge.”
Nnadi nearly caused a ‘ruckus’ and left the show
“There was a moment when I was like, ‘This is my last day. I don’t want to be here anymore,'” Nnadi reveals.
“That was back when Bri actually picked Nathan on the date. I was like, ‘Yo, two girls do me like this? […] Why am I still here?'”
“In my head, I was about to cause a ruckus before I left, because I just wasn’t going to leave in peace. So that probably would have been the juiciest thing that happened because I was going to say , ‘Yo, before I leave here, I’ll make sure they all remember me. But I didn’t do that.
“What really happened was that Nathan spoke to me,” Nnadi said. “He was like, ‘Look, mate, we love you. We don’t want you to leave.'”
They brought their own outfits
From fashionable swimsuits to party outfits, the actors spent their time on the island in style, but Scarfone says when it came to their wardrobes, they were on their own.
“We completely brought our own outfits,” she says. “We were a tight-knit group, so we shared our outfits and the girls helped each other. But all of our outfits were completely our own.”
Beaux took Harry on a romantic date
Beaux Raymond and Harry Johnson, who – spoiler alert – ended up winning the season, were easily one of the show’s cutest couples. Turns out a super adorable moment between them didn’t make the final cut.
“I actually created a date scene for him. I laid out blankets and pillows under the stars, and that was when I tried to let my guard down a bit,” revealed Beaux in an interview with Narcity.
“So I definitely thought, well, I gotta love him now if I do things like that for him. But unfortunately they didn’t show it.”
The party was never “botched”
For a group of singles with a reputation for partying, you might be surprised to learn that they kept it “classy” while filming.
“During the party scenes, you know, we might have been drinking a little, but we all kept it classy,” Scarfone says. “Some nights we might have a drink, it was never sloppy at all. To be honest, I don’t drink a lot of alcohol anyway, so it wasn’t really a problem for me.”
