Jennifer Lawrence is back! Beware of these upcoming movies

Jennifer lawrence was first in the limelight when she starred in “Winter’s Bone” in 2010. However, she only achieved star status after playing Katniss Everdeen, the determined archer who fights for her life in the series “Hunger Games”, an adaptation of the bestselling novels for young adults by Suzanne Collins.

After the first movie “The Hunger Games”, Lawrence began his on-screen partnership with Bradley Cooper and director David O. Russell. She started with “Silver Linings Playbook” in 2012, followed it with “American Hustle” the following year and “Joy” in 2015.

“Silver Linings Playbook” won Lawrence an Oscar for her performance, making her the second-youngest winner in Best Actress history. She also received a nomination for her two other collaborations with Russell. She also won a BAFTA and three Golden Globes before the age of 30.

Following the release of the spy thriller “Red Sparrow” in 2018, Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly that she would focus on political activism as part of the Represent.Us organization.

However, now that she is back in the industry, there are a lot of projects emerging from her that are definitely worth adding to watchlists.

‘Don’t look up’

“Don’t Look Up” is a satire for Netflix written and directed by Adam mckay, known for having directed “Vice” and “The Big Short”.

They are said to be “two low-level scientists who, after discovering that a meteor is going to hit Earth in six months, are doing a media tour to try to warn the world but find a population unresponsive and incredulous.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was reported that filming for the film began on November 23, 2020. Lawrence and his co-star Leonardo DiCaprio will play the two scientists at the center of the story.

The cast is vast; familiar faces like Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, Tyler Perry and Cate Blanchett. “Don’t Look Up” will also reunite DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, his co-star in “The Wolf of Wall Street”. The supporting cast are Melanie Lynskey, Himesh Patel, Ron Perlman, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi and Matthew Perry.

While not supposed to be as action-packed as the “The Hunger Games” franchise was for Lawrence, she reportedly suffered an injury on set. The film took a temporary hiatus after Lawrence was reportedly struck by debris from a special effects explosion.

‘Daughter of the crowd’

The upcoming “Mob Girl” biopic will tell the story of Arlyne Brickman, a woman who was a big part of the organized crime scene in 1970s New York City. After growing up and getting married to the Lower Mafia East Side of New York, she became an FBI informant.

She was a key witness in the case against the Colombo Crime Family, one of five families that still have influence in New York City. Lawrence will play Brickman in the film, which is based on the biography of the same name by author Teresa Carpenter.

The film is directed by Paolo Sorrentino, an Italian director with many fantastic films to his credit, including the Oscar-winning film “The Great Beauty” of 2013. He has recently embarked on other projects in English, notably in as the creator of “The Young Pope” and his successor, “The New Pope”.

To date, and according to IMDb, the only other actor announced for the project is a young actor named Lucas Royalty. He will make his film debut. Although there has been no word on when production will begin on this film, Sorrentino currently has a film in post-production, “The Hand of God”. It should be released later this year.

‘Bad blood’

Jennifer Lawrence is expected to play Elizabeth Holmes in the “Bad Blood” biopic. She’s an entrepreneur who started her own tech start-up in 2003 called Theranos and claimed her technology could perform dozens of lab tests with just one drop of blood.

Many have praised her innovation and presence, and Forbes put her on their list of America’s 50 Richest Self-Made Women.

However, it all fell apart when Holmes was accused of fraud by John Carreyrou, a Wall Street Journal reporter who investigated Theranos for a series of articles.

As of this writing, “Bad Blood” does not have a set release date.

“Red, white and water”

Lawrence teams up with acclaimed theater director Lila Neugebauer for her feature debut. The script also comes from another novice, Elizabeth Sanders.

“Red, White and Water” is under the experienced hands of producers Scott Rudin, Eli Bush and the A24 banner. Lawrence is also selected as one of the producers of the film.

According to IMDb, “Red, White and Water” follows an American soldier who suffers from a head trauma while fighting in Afghanistan, then struggles to readjust to life in his country.

In the film, some of Lawrence’s co-stars include Brian Tyree Henry, Samira Wiley, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
