United transfer target Boubacar Kamara chooses the right moment to shine

Should Manchester United make a late move during the transfer window, Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara could be the likeliest option.

Athleticism signaled United’s interest in Kamara last month. Now a report in The mail reports that United have been in contact with Kamara’s agents over a potential move.

Kamara is out of contract at the end of the season and the report says Marseille are ready to sell for around £10m this month to secure a fee while they can.

Kamara seizes the moment to impress

With speculation over Kamara’s future ongoing, he picked the right moment to drop an impressive performance on Saturday night as Marseille won 2-0 at Lens.

Kamara played all 90 minutes in a defensive midfield role, anchoring the team in a 4-1-4-1 formation.

The 22-year-old completed 96% of his passes, making 72 in total, and he touched the ball 90 times, more than any player on the pitch.

Kamara made three interceptions, more than any other midfielder on either side, winning a tackle and making two clearances.

He capped off an impressive all-around performance by creating two goalscoring chances, more than attacking teammate Dmitri Payet (1).

Kamara’s situation

Kamara’s time at Marseille is coming to an end, but he could last until the end of the season. While they’re happy to cash in, they’re also very happy to have him in their starting lineup each week.

The midfielder has turned down several attempts to discuss a contract extension and looks more likely to leave as a free agent this summer.

Despite reports of interest from Aston Villa, Leeds and Newcastle via The maila report of SportsFrance claims Manchester United are favorites for his signature if he becomes a free agent, along with Spanish side Real Betis.

United are likely to raise money in player sales this month, or loans, with 90 minutes reporting that Newcastle are willing to pay £10m just to loan Jesse Lingard out.

That fee could cover Boubacar Kamara’s permanent move if United chose to invest him that way. Considering the team’s needs, Lingard out and Kamara in would be pretty good deals.
